Value
wax, dried moss, plaster, box
Purity, durability, beauty.
Words that best describe fascination and obsession precious minerals and metals, giving them labels of luxury, wealth and superiority. Using wax, pieces of dried moss, and plaster, I present fragile objects that are of no value in themselves, but still resemble such – plaster due to the association with the earth layer that needs to be pierced to reach the potential gem, and the moss as a reminder of the nature that has been swallowed up by the whole process To these completely dysfunctional, but beautiful objects, I attach value by shaping and cutting wax to reflect light, as we do to stones that we call ” precious ” in order to raise their price.
