Per Hour
2020
installation; mixed media
dimensions variable
The multipart installation by Mihael Frančić called Per Hour is comprised of several textile elements in space. Clothing items in the colors of human skin are selected and, on them, hourly rates of Asian textile factory workers are sewn. With the respective installation, Frančić points out a dominant monopoly of western fashion superpowers over the Asian workforce. The severity of this message about discrimination and underpayment is discreetly emphasized by sewing numbers of shockingly small incomes on surfaces resembling human skin.
