In her series, Worm Charms, Ajda Kadunc uses diverse organic materials, along with epoxy/wax resin and textiles, producing eight objects shaped like charms or effigies. All pieces are embedded with residues such as dead bees or dried flowers, thereby attaining an almost ritualistic, shamanistic character. Kadunc’s work possesses a subtle dialectic between notions of human control and the primal or untamed; namely, she draws upon these subjects, viewing them in liminal spaces of combinations or comparisons that sometimes extend to absurdity.

Ajda Kadunc (1995, Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a visual artist working in painting and installation. She earned her MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana (2024) and studied at the University of the Arts Helsinki through the Erasmus+ program (2020). Her practice approaches absurdity as a liminal space between control and the untamed, using image-making and diverse materials to expand into and subtly occupy space. She has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Slovenia and internationally.
