Conscious trash
Photographs, print
The human sense of taste and style is my starting point in illuminating social realities in a “white trash aesthetic”. I try to provoke with whimsical and absurd everyday life. The hard look through the lens seems shameless, harsh and mischievous, but the spectator is still through and through the people – according to the motto “I am human and nothing human is alien to me.” Phenomena such as consumption, tourism or national identities are illuminated from an entertaining perspective, which makes the banal, extreme and sometimes also abysses visible in everyday life. ‘Conscious trash’ was created by both analogue and digital cameras at home and abroad. André Krysl is a librarian, rapper and photographer and is currently studying at ZHdK in Zurich.
