Leif Hendrik Kauz-Zeller refers to famous scenes of melancholy from art history. His homonymous work contains themes of human pain and meaningfulness translated into a context of our time. In the composition, the artist includes a multitude of motives found in today’s world whereby the symbolism of the painting no longer remains bound to old discourses but starts to represent contemporary collective concerns such as the question of identity or the threats of ideologies.
